Trustee Award- The beloved Burt Beagle passed away from colon cancer on Monday, February 19th, 2007 in the Bronx and the NYC Basketball "Hall of Fame" trustees wasted no time in inducting this legendary hoop statistician and "Friend To The Game" to their 18th class.

Prior to the start of the 2006-07 basketball season Beagle carried a streak of working 930 consecutive games as a statistician for home and road games for the Baruch College Bearcats men's basketball team. The streak began in 1969 and unfortunately ended on Nov. 21, 2006, when ill health prevented Burt's travel to the annual game against Yeshiva Univ. Here's how long ago it was: in 1969 it cost 20 cents to ride the New York City Subway! Beagle's dedication, work ethic, and skill have been documented over the years in nearly every media outlet including the N.Y. Times, Post, Daily News, Newsday, Staten Island Advance, and "Face in The Crowd" in Sports Illustrated. The retired accountant and former SID was inducted into the N.Y. State Basketball "Hall of Fame" as a Contributor on March 25, 2006, and received a like selection by the CHSAA (Catholic High School Athletic Assn.) Burt has been the CHSAA's Media Relations Director for more than 30 years. In 2002 Beagle was honored by the Met Writer's Basketball Assn. at their annual Haggerty Awards Dinner.

A lifelong Bronx resident, he attended Baruch when it was the business school of the City College of N. Y. and graduated in 1956. As an undergrad, he was President of the Intramural Board and Sports Editor of "The Ticker", the school newspaper. He later became Editor & Chief of the evening school paper, "The Reporter", and was named to the Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. In addition to his love of basketball, accuracy and people! Burt started Baruch's baseball program in the Fall of 1969 and recently served as Associate Head Coach for the team. He was also a fixture at the August Honesdale session of the Five-Star Basketball Camp keeping voluminous stats on some of the greatest players in the history of the sport.
