and Re-Ratified By the New Boards in 2023, 2024 & 2026

Section 2. Eligibility

A .          Eligibility for Admission to the NYC Basketball Hall of Fame shall be restricted to those who fall into one of the three following categories:

(a)        Player. A person who was reared (attended high school) in NYC. Total career at all levels of competition (high school, college, street or professional basketball) is to be considered.

(c)          Contributor to the Game. A person or organization who contributed to the development of the game of basketball at any level (including community-based) in NYC or, if reared in NYC, on a national level.

  3. The total number of inductees into the NYC Basketball Hall of Fame shall not exceed ten (10) in any given Class
  4. Amendments A & B were adopted by the board in June of 2023
  5. Amendment C & Note were adopted by the board on February 10, 2026

Amendment A: Category C shall be split to allow recognition of game officials (referees) as such under separate category “Official” with the same rules as category Coach.

Amendment B: Category Coach shall be amended to include and make eligible any active coach with over 40 years of service to the same NYC institution (at any level).

Amendment C: Categories Player, Coach and Official shall be amended to include and make eligible any individual who has served and represented the City of New York for at least 5 full seasons and, in the
judgment of the Board, has had a communal impact that allows them to be adopted as “true NYers.”

Note: Inclusion in Amendment C should be used sparingly and only in cases where the individual has become truly identified with the City Game by the general public.
