Richard J. “Dick” McGuire (January 25, 1926- Febuary 3, 2010) attended LaSalle Academy in New York City. For his college career he played for St Johns 1943–1944, 1946–1949), and then Dartmouth (1944). He was a 2x Haggerty Award (1944,1949).

As a professional, he played for the New York Knicks (1949-1957), and the Detriot Pistons (1957-1960). McGuire was a 7x NBA All-Star (1951,1952,1954-1956,1958,1959), All-NBA Second Team (1951), NBA assists leader (1950) No 15 retired by New York Knicks, Second-Team All-American-SN (1944), Third-Team All-American-UPI (1949), NBA Champion (1973), and Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame (1993). Once he retired he moved over to coaching he would coach the Detriot Pistons (1959-1963), New York Knicks (1965-1968), and a New York Knicks assistant (1972-1979).
