John Salley Inducted in 2009
John Thomas Salley a Brooklyn native attended Canarsie High School. Later, at Georgia Tech where he helped the Yellow Jackets win the 1985 ACC Championship and also advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. In 1986 he was Georgia Tech's all-time leader in blocked shots. Salley was drafted in 1986 in the 1st round, 11th overall pick selected by the Detroit Pistons.
Salley played for the Detriot Pistons (1986-92), Miami Heat (1992-95), Toronto Raptors (1995-96), Chicago Bulls (1996), Panathinaikos (1996), and the Los Angeles Lakers (1999-2000). Career highlights 4× NBA champion (1989, 1990, 1996, 2000), Third-team All-American – NABC (1986), 2× Second-team All-ACC (1985, 1986), and No. 22 retired by Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
