Lloyd "SonnyDove (August 16, 1945 – February 14, 1983) was born in Hyannis, Massachusetts. He would play at St Francis Preparatory in Brooklyn and go on to star at St. John's University (1964-67).

Dove was selected by the Detroit Pistons with the fourth pick of the 1967 NBA draft. He played two years with the Pistons before joining the New York Nets of the ABA, and remained until 1972. His pro career ended when he shattered his leg in a bicycle accident.

He returned to St. John’s to finish his degree to pursue a career in radio sports broadcasting. Dove had a job as a color commentator for St. John’s basketball games on WNYE, and also worked part-time driving a cab. Career highlights Consensus second-team All-American (1967), and Haggerty Award winner (1967).
